Julia Rodrigues’s work is an exploration of minimal textures created by multiple layers that go beyond the immediacy of the senses. Her compositions combine an almost imperceptible movement that challenges our perception of rhythm, repetition and emotional awareness.

Originally from Portugal, with deep roots in traditional crafts, Julia creates delicate intricate intaglio etchings that are subtle and yet striking in their uniqueness. By juxtaposing the simple gesture of traditional repetitive labour methods (weaving, painting, carving) and a deep sense of artistic meditation, she creates a unique spatial dimension of multi-layered textures that somehow  reveal the beauty of simplicity.
